Types of photovoltaic modules
1. Monocrystalline silicon components
At present, monocrystalline silicon modules have the highest photoelectric conversion efficiency among all types. Single crystal silicon is packaged with tempered glass and waterproof resin, which is sturdy and durable, with a service life of generally up to 25 years.
2. Polycrystalline silicon components
The manufacturing process of polycrystalline silicon modules is similar to that of monocrystalline silicon, but the photoelectric conversion efficiency of polycrystalline silicon needs to be reduced. The production cost of polycrystalline silicon solar cells is cheaper than that of monocrystalline silicon solar cells, and the material manufacturing is simple, saving electricity consumption, and the overall production cost is lower. Therefore, it has been extensively developed.
3. Amorphous silicon components
Amorphous silicon modules, also known as thin film modules, greatly simplify the manufacturing process, consume very little silicon material, and have lower power consumption. Its main advantage is that it can generate electricity even under low light conditions. However, the main problem with amorphous silicon solar cells is their low photoelectric conversion efficiency.
